Book Summary

He was the friendly, baby-faced, Canadian boy next door. He came from a loving, caring, and well-respected family. Blessed with good looks and back-woods country charm, he was popular with his peers, and although an accident at birth left permanent nerve damage in one of his arms, he excelled in sports. A self-proclaimed "die hard" Calgary Flames fan, he played competitive junior hockey and competed on his school's snowboarding team. And he enjoyed the typical simple pleasures of a boy growing up in the country: camping, hunting, and fishing with family and friends.

But he also enjoyed brutally murdering women, and he would become one of the youngest serial killers in Canadian history.

My Thoughts

A chilling depiction of a young serial killer that was thankfully caught early in his career.

In last month's Crime Canada case, we read about a young male psychopath (Luka Magnotta) where one can almost grasp how anger and rage towards others would manifest from such a harsh upbringing. In this month's case, we read about the polar opposite. A young man who had it all. Great childhood, friends, popularity. These two young men couldn't be more different, yet both grew up to be psychopathic killers.

JT Hunter is a great author and the same as with his last true crime book, this one is well-researched and written, and expertly delivered. Absolutely astonishing, it's really hard to believe he has only penned a couple true crime works. He has already proven to be a master of his craft and I, for one, am anxiously awaiting for his next.

Very engaging and compelling, I highly recommend this one to all my fellow fans of True Crime.

**Note: In the spirit of full disclosure, I designed the cover for this book.
